If you have a substantial comic book collection or a large group of collectibles, contact us before moving anything. We regularly work with sellers who have too many boxes to conveniently transport. One of our buyers can arrange a meeting at your Chicago home or another suitable location. We will look through the collection, identify items that have collectible value, consider condition and market demand, and explain how we arrive at an offer. I cannot say enough how great this store is, I wish I had known about it sooner. I went there twice this week, the first time I brought about 25 retro games with me that I was looking to sell. I met Dorian and he could not have been nicer, he went through what I brought in efficiently and made me an offer that was actually more than I was expecting. (I have been to places that seem almost resentful that you are attempting to sell them your games, absolutely none of that here)
I was so happy with both the offer and Dorian’s friendly demeanor that I eneded up making an appointment to sell about 250 games. Appointment day comes, Dorian and 2 others whose names I unfortunately did not get, went through the 250 games in an hour! While they went through the games I wandered around this amazing shop just drowning in my own nostalgia. Amazing selection of both videogames and comics, and everybody I interacted with was just so friendly. I apologize for the 1,000 word essay, but I definitely recommend this store!

Went in for the first time on 6/16/26 to sell some slabbed cards and I was so happy with the experience. The owner (Ronnie) treated me respectfully and gave me a price that was fair for both sides. His sidekick Declan (sp?) was really knowledgeable and nice to talk to. I’m excited to finally a local shop I feel good about going to.

This is the place to sell your comics and collectibles. I recently sold my comic book collection as well as my Pokémon cards here, and it was the best place I could have picked. The two teammates I spoke with (Jared and Mike) were very knowledgeable, friendly, and professional. Comics 4 Less (Comic Buying Center) has an abundant inventory of Comic Books, Cards, Games and Graphic Novels. I go there for the comic book back issues which are extensive and updated frequently. They have a discounted bulk area which gets turned over quickly, a $5, $10, $20 and individually priced section of better books. The employees there are knowledgeable, friendly and welcoming. I do not know much about the inventory outside of the comic books, but I always see people shopping those areas being assisted by the friendly staff. I have traded comics to get better books and the buyers and owner treated me well twice now. The best thing I can say about this place is that I saw a mother bringing her kids in and the kids ran in because they were so excited to be there. I share their enthusiam about this store. Visit here – you won’t regret it!

I can’t even tell you how many times I would pass this on a drive home or to Vernon Hills/Libertyville. I had an event to go to just about two blocks away and I decided to finally pop in and check it out. I brought my 11 year old daughter with me and could not believe this place.
I have gone to check out various types of shops and this one is definitely special. We were greeted and shown the deals they currently had and where to find products in different rooms and areas. We browsed and checked out a ton of comics and Pokemon cards. I was showing my daughter stuff that I remember from my childhood and at no point were we pressured into looking at stuff or buy stuff. An hour and a half flew by and we didn’t even realize it.
The three different gentleman we interacted with were great. They didn’t mind showing us stuff in the cases and were servicing multiple people without missing a beat or showing that they were bothered.
The prices were great too and I can’t wait to go back and make the turn into the lot more often. I’m hoping to make it a weekly occurrence and see what else I’m able to find.

I highly recommend to anyone and everyone that loves video games, comic books or anime. I was greeted by Mike at the door as I was trying to sell some Basketball And Pokémon Cards. He helped me find and Understand the value of my basketball cards and introduced me to Jared, who thoroughly knowledgeable in Pokémon and my Japanese cards I’ve had since childhood.
I want to mention that because of those two outstanding gentlemen I rekindled a lot of memories and the things that I enjoyed, but it’s always been about culture with the things that actually resonate my life.

Recently stopped in, to not only sell some of my collection but check this place out after reading the reviews. If you call ahead and learn about their buying process it is straightforward and transparent. Staff and ownership were friendly, knowledgeable and the place had a very welcoming feeling. Came here for a tournament that unfortunately did not fire but the organizers did give out promos which was very nice. Very impressive store tons of comics that you could probably spend days upon days looking through. Very impressive vintage collection of magic cards, with very reasonable prices. Tons of retro video games too if that is your thing. Very impressed and letting my comic book friends know about the place.

I recently sold a large collection of comic books and video games to the comic buying center. The experience was fantastic all the way around. I dealt with Dorian, and he was so great to work with. Very knowledgeable and led me through the process the whole way. I had a call with him before hand and then provided a list of what I had to sell. I had had comics and video games that ranged from the 70s to the 2010’s, so it was good to be organized beforehand. This made the process go so smoothly as he was able to research the items before I came in. We setup a time over the weekend and they were able to accommodate my schedule. I brought in a wide array of older and newer comics, and some consoles and old video games. The process they used to give values on my items was transparent and straight forward. I knew I had some things that were more valuable than others, but also a lot that was more common. Comic Buying Center gave me fair value for both my rarer and more common items. I left very happy and would give my highest recommendation if you have old collectibles to sell. I also did a pass through the shop after my appointment and was very impressed. I had to fight the urge to start building my collection again!

Safe to say this will be my only source for magic the gathering cards from now on. Best selection of vintage cards i’ve ever seen in person. The staff is incredibly helpful and kind. They chatted with me aton and made me feel super welcome. The drive was about an hour and twenty minutes for me and it was worth every second. Cant wait to come back. OZmg! I brought my Friend Ryan here he was madly in love we bought 35 comics and 2 Funkos! Best money ever spent. Great finds!! I got Simpson comics, one of the guys showed me the $5 dollar trades, I saw them. It was awesome they got room full of shelves of different $5 dollar trades! This place is awesome I will get back very soon. Thanks guys!! Love the store my new favorite place and love the free drinks and candy. Just can’t eat too much candy or I end up in diabetic coma. My wife Tania brought me to this place for the first time yesterday morning and absolutely love this place! This was her second time coming here. The comic books, the Funko pops, and action figures are very reasonably priced! Funkos are $5 and action figures are $10. The worker Mike was really nice and knowledgeable. I will definitely be coming back here again and letting other people know about this great place!!

Came here once to sell my comic books and another time to sell my basketball cards. Pete went over the value of my items based on condition and what I could get if I sold them myself, which I didn’t want to do. He gave me a fair price for everything and I was happy with it. I will definitely come here again if I come across any other collectible items.

We had a box of Pokemon Cards and needed help assessing their value so we would know what to do with them… The guy at this place was a walking Pokemon Card Encyclopedia, educated us on card values, shared the card selling market dynamics and made us a fair price offer on the entire box! Following over thirty years of active collecting and an additional twenty years of boxes collecting dust in my bedroom, I finally decided that the time had come to part with my precious collection. Searching on-line I came upon Comic Buying Center, gave them a call, and am glad I did. Mike came down to my place at the agreed upon time, looked through each of my boxes to see what I had, gave me what I considered to be a fair offer, wrote the check and hauled away all the boxes. I found the entire process to be quite pleasant and appreciated both his professionalism and knowledge of comics. I would wholeheartedly recommend them to anyone looking to liquidate their collection.

I needed to finally purge my comics collection for space since I haven’t touched the boxes since I moved 5 years ago. I came across an ad on Reddit and decided to send in an inquiry for an appraisal. The next day I got a call and they walked me through the process, how they price the books for both buying and selling, and informed me that I could also sell video games and systems.
I scheduled my appraisal with them and brought in a bunch of short boxes, a couple long boxes, a PS3, and some games. Roughly an hour later, I walked out with a check that I thought was extremely fair. I was very happy with the experience and if I ever have an unwieldy comics collection that I need to unload again, I will happy bring it in.

Highly recommend if you are looking to sell your comic collection… I had a large collection of comics and spoke with Mike briefly on the phone – was thoughtful and informative, so I made an appointment to take it to the next step… Was thoroughly impressed with the process – spent about 2 hours with Mike looking up all kinds of sales data on various comics in the collection and also learned a lot about their process. I was presented a very reasonable offer, and after a little negotiating, ended up with a final offer everyone was happy with. While I have been out of comics for a while, the stores I dealt with in the past would never have put as much time and effort into something like this. If you are looking to sell your collection, this is the only place you need to go.

These guys are awesome! We went in looking for some retro games and what we found was a gold mine. The prices were very fair for what we bought considering the quality and condition of everything. They even had some very hard to find games. Highly recommend if you’re in the area and don’t want to get price gouged on retro games.

My wife and I knew almost nothing about comic books, but we took a chance and contacted the Comic Buying Center, based upon the results of a google search. Now I only wish that we had even more comic books to sell, because now I know where to go and who to ask for!

I brought in some old NES games to sell and had no idea what any were worth. Dorian did a pretty quick evaluation of the games, while I looked around the store and explained what he could offer and how he got to those numbers. I was really impressed by Dorian’s extensive knowledge of video games, as well as the transparency of the whole process. I left feeling like I got a very fair price. I would highly recommend!

We found a bunch of 1940’s-era comics in my late-father’s belongings and took them here to sell. Peter was extremely friendly and knowledgeable, explaining what the comics were worth and why. After a brief intro phone call last week, Mike came in from the suburbs to my house in Chicago today and spent several hours evaluating my 3,600-book collection. He’s a true pro and a nice guy.
I decided I would probably sell to CBC after hearing about their program of setting out lightly picked boxes (major keys pulled) at five bucks a book at the beginning of the month and then dropping the price to a buck on remaining stock at the end of the month. Cool way to keep the collectors engaged and give them a shot at some nice finds. Those are the kind of people you want to do business with.
If you are selling a collection, the biggest difference between having a positive experience and a bad one is in setting realistic expectations. I told Mike I wanted us both to do well in the transaction and that I know guide prices often don’t reflect market realities. After that, it was a mellow process marked by good conversation.
The price we negotiated was a fair one and I felt this collection–which I built from the ages of 7 to 16 from a combo of diligently buying new books and making the rounds of second-hand stores back in the days when you could stumble on an entire box of Silver Age superhero titles for cover price–was going to a good home.
If I sent the major keys out to be graded and sold them individually on eBay, I probably could have tripled the payout, but I don’t have the time or inclination to do that. CBC will very likely double the money, which is perfectly fair. The collection was assembled with passion and I smile at the thought of collectors going through my 15 long boxes and fishing out some gems.
I would recommend these guys to any collector looking to sell. If I was still a kid, I’m sure I’d be camped out there on the first day of every month. Thanks, Mike.

Great place! I generally go here when I’m wanting to buy comics during the summer. Their $5 Trade Paperback section is my favortie part of the store and I’ve bought multiple from them over the past few years. My kids love going there to look through the longboxes. They have 100K+ comics! They offer free candy and drinks to customers. They also provide free short or longboxes to customers who buy enough comics to fill them

Best value on old video games and systems in town! Selling and buying, they know their stuff here and make sure all customers are taken care of! I wanted to max my old Nintendo game collection value – but FB Marketplace was intense and GameStop offers pennies – then I was lucky enough to hear about the Comic Buying Center. I am very happy with the trade we made and even scooped up some new treasures while I was there.

Fantastic experience today. Went to sell most of my collection and was met by amazing staff who helped me bring in all my stuff. Pete spent a lot of time with me and was patient with my questions while providing thorough answers and insight. I was never made to feel rushed and I felt Pete gave me a very honest appraisal/offer. I must also say that the store itself is fun to look around. Great selection of comics as well as video games, consoles, and other collectibles. This place was definitely a hidden gem for me. I highly recommend visiting Pete and the staff at Comic Buying Center whether you want to sell something or just want to browse their amazing in-store selection.

I’ve been collecting rare comic book slabs for about 6 months now. My son (4.5) has seen them and kept asking if we could read one. I looked up a place locally that carried them since I’d bought most of them from online auction sites. This was the first one that popped up. We went to get him his very first TMNT comic and right when we walked in we were greeted by an incredibly knowledgeable and friendly staff. (they really leaned in to make it a special experience for him. The owner Peter, came over and also showed me their collection of CGC Slabs and it was extensive. He also took a wish list from me to call as they came in. 10/10 would recommend!

I was looking to sell some old Magic: The Gathering cards that I had sitting around in my basement for YEARS. My wife happened to find this business while helping me look for locations. I called them on a Friday afternoon and Dorian called me back that very evening on his off hours to discuss my collection. He was extremely knowledgeable about MtG and especially with the card sets I was looking to sell.
I drove up the next day from NWI to meet with Dorian who spent an exceptional amount of time appraising my cards with me and walking for through his process and even showing me what certain very valuable cards were selling for in the same condition as my cards. He even took into account the distance traveled with his appraisal! I was VERY impressed with Dorian and Comic Buying Center and would highly recommend them for anyone looking to sell high value Magic cards.

Great communication. Very fast appraisal. Looked through all my boxes of comics and even took into consideration that there were specialty single issues which where larger and whose original value was larger than the typical comic books in the series. This place is great! I inquired about selling some old Magic: The Gathering cards and I got a call back from Dorian (EXTREMELY knowledgable) almost instantly. I’ve been coming to CBC for my years in Chicago. It really is the city’s best kept severer, Peter, Mike, Chris, Dorian are just amazing people and help you out with anything you need. It always is nice to have a free snack and drink too while you are hunting. This is a go to for comic book collectors, and should be a stop for anyone who’s visiting Chicago!

The epitome of geeked out Comic Capitalism. For those of us who grew up with these incredible pieces of art AND storytelling, this is the quintessential distribution center for collectors and just plain nostalgic folk. There are incredible displays for the wandering eye and bins and bins of cost effective illustrated options. Every imaginable comic and illustrated novel….available here. Collectibles galore. Sometimes it feels like a capitalistic museum from the Marvel and DC universe. Enjoy this little gem on the outskirts of Libertyville, right off of RT176 coupla blocks east of RT21.

Nice place good people…but only 50% for your best…brought in 490.he took 20.payed half what worth.. Should at least do 65% and the rest wanted to pay 150…only go if your desperate..can sell higher end comics yourself. Or pass them down.kind of felt stupid letting comics go I had 50 years go like that.and only the best ones.

I wanted to give a big shout out to the Comic Buying Center in Libertyville. I recently decided to part with a 251 issue comic book collection that I inherited 7 years ago when my father passed. I first did my own research with the Overstreet Guide. I subsequently brought my collection in for a free evaluation. I interacted with Mike and Pete and they were extremely knowledgable and professional. I felt that they offered me a fairly valuation for my collection which contained some rare and marketable issues. I chose to seek out a second opinion from a local comic book seller which was a nightmare. I was advised that I had nothing of value and offered $100 for my entire collection. This was either a dishonest attempt to obtain my collection for essentially nothing or the owner doesn’t really know his business. I returned to the Comic Buying Center and was paid $5,000 for my collection. Pete is a very honest and professional individual and I would recommend him and his business without hesitation. As my story above illustrates, there are many others in this business who are not so forthright. Choose carefully!

This is the place to deal with professionals! I recently dealt with Peter and Dorian with my sale.They we’re both so knowledgeable and professional- not to mention friendly. Peter is awesome. I highly recommend his shop. I had a large comic collection that I had been hanging on to since the mid-90s, and I finally decided to sell it. As he appraised my collection, Peter took the time to explain to me what some of the key comics were worth and why. I found him to be very knowledgeable and very honest ( something you won’t always find from people in his line of work).

Wonderful experience at Comic Buying Center today! I contacted Mike and we set an appointment to possibly sell my comics. Mike was so knowledgeable and friendly. He showed me around the store, offered me something to drink and walked me thru the buying process. HONEST. Very refreshing to experience. He offered me a great and fair price and we were done. I was recently tasked with selling the large comics collection (around 7000 comics), of a relative’s estate. It was almost all DC silver age comics. Peter came to my home in Wisconsin and carefully walked through the process with me and made a very fair offer that day. Randomly stopped by because we saw the “Comics 4 Less Store OPEN” sign on the street. A little weird to get into the building because there’s no other signage, but the comics inside were awesome! $2 for issues, $5 for trades. Great quality and selection. Really nice guys too! One Chicago collector contacted Comic Buying Center before selling a collection built over many years. Mike traveled from the suburbs to the collector’s Chicago home and spent several hours evaluating approximately 3,600 comic books. The collection filled 15 long boxes and included books collected from childhood through the collector’s teenage years, with a strong focus on Silver Age superhero comics. Rather than asking the seller to transport 15 boxes to Libertyville, the appraisal was handled at the seller’s home. After discussing the collection and negotiating a price, the seller chose to sell the collection to Comic Buying Center.Several hundred 1950s–1960s comics evaluated on-site
Another collection consisted of several hundred comics from the 1950s and 1960s. The collection had belonged to the seller’s deceased brother, so the owners were not experienced collectors themselves. Mike traveled to the sellers’ home and spent nearly three hours evaluating and pricing the comics individually. Not every Chicago-area sale is limited to one type of collectible. One seller brought a collection containing multiple short boxes, two long boxes, a PS3, and video games. Pete spent his childhood going to comic book conventions with his father, so you could say he was raised in the industry.
